INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of Study
A round tube bending machine is a device that is used to bend metal tube or bar into various diameters. The machine consist of a die and a roller and can be adjusted to create different angles and diameters .Round tube bending machine can be used to create tubing for a variety of applications such as plumbing, automotive parts, and furniture. They are often used in conjunction with other machine ,such as cutting and welding machine to create finished product.
The process of bending a tube using a round tube bending machine is fairly straightforward first the operator insert the tube into the machine and aligns it with the die and roller Next, the operator adjust the setting of the machine to create the desired angle and shape. once the sitting are adjusted, the operator turns on the tube bending it. The process is then repeated until the desired amount of bend is achieved .Some machine are also capable of performing multiple bends in a single pass ,making the process even more efficient.
A round tube bending machine is a specialized tool used in metal working and fabrication to bend round tube and pipe into various angle and they are essential in industries such as automotive, aerospace, construction and manufacturing, where precise and consistent tube bending is required for creating component frame and structure (Miller, 2003).
A round tube bending machine operates by applying force to a metal tube, causing it to bend around a die of a specific radius. The machine secures the tube in place using clamp dies and pressure dies to prevent deformation or collapse during bending.
The bending arm or ram then exerts controlled pressure to deform the tube gradually until the desired bend angle is achieved. The tube's material properties, such as hardness and thickness, influence the bending process.
1.2 Aims and Objectives
The aim of this project is to construct a round tube bending machine that can bend metal bars from one position to another.
Specific objective is to:
1.1.To carry out a research on existing works on a round tube bending machine
2.To determine the relevant parameters for component sizing.
3.To acquire appropriate material and component.
4.To analyze the construction , procedure and relevant costing.
5.To carry out functional and operational test on the round tube bending machine.
1.3 Statement of problem
1.Versatility: These machines are capable of bending a wide range of tube sizes and materials, making them suitable for a variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace, construction, and furniture manufacturing.
